Windows is an Operating System owned by Microsoft. There are 14 versions of Windows at the moment. These include: Windows 1.0 (1985) Windows 2.0 (1987) Windows 3.0 (1990) Windows 3.1 (1992) Windows 95 (1995) Windows 98 (1998) Windows ME (Millennium Edition) (2000) Windows 2000 (2000) Windows XP (2001) Windows Vista(2007) Windows 7 (2009) Windows 8 (2012) Windows 8.1 (2013) Windows 10 (2015) Windows 11 (2021). (And Windows 12 might be releasing this year!) But what was before Windows? Well, the answer to that is quite simple. It is MS DOS, released in 1981, It was a more complicated version of windows.

It is Nearly 40 years old! That is probably older than most of you reading this! More than 73 percent of computers have Windows pre-installed on them. That means that 1.825 BILLION computers on earth use Windows. It is the most popular Operating System, due to it's friendly inter-face and extensive compatibility with hardware and software.
